Every week in 2018, I’ll be sharing a power word in weekly wallpapers to help brighten your desktop and act as an affirmation of sorts. These wallpapers will be available in two desktop sizes, tablet and mobile device.
This week… Dramatic
When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat which doesn’t go, and doesn’t suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals, and say we’ve no money for butter.
I was thinking of this famous poem – “When I Am An Old Woman I Shall Wear Purple”– the other day and learned its author, Jenny Joseph passed away in January of this year at age 85.
Fall is a dramatic season all on its own – bustling us around in winds, changing her temperatures daily and whether she will weep or shine upon us.
So it’s a perfect time to add a little drama into your clothes – goodness knows we don’t need an actual drama added into our lives. Buy some red shoes, a bright scarf, bohemian earrings. Have fun – I think of it as adding some Catherine Zeta Jones to my style. Like this photo when I think drama – I think richness, spice and a hint of exotic or mystery.
But maybe I ought to practise a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.
