Kind words spoken silently to myself can be the best antidote to anxiety. I found this especially true last week. It was wobbly week for me since like most of us, I wasn’t able to share Easter and our traditions with my family. Maybe it was because I’m waking up at 4 am, even when I don’t “think” I’m anxious. I find comfort in kind words. I remind myself of the joy of family’s laughter and love shared in past holidays and knowing we will again. The positive words of affirmation and grace I say quietly to myself in those dark early hours help relax me. If you’re not sure where to start…..think about the words you’d use when you comfort a sick, tired child. Today, let yourself be that tired child.
