How Full is your Cup? 4 Self-Care Tips to Nurture Your Spirit

Beautiful cup, isn’t it? Since it’s empty, it serves no one. That’s how I felt the other day. I was tapped out and exhausted from serving others and not taking care of myself. I know you understand what I mean about self-care.

February is the month of love–and it starts with ourselves. If our own cup is empty, we can’t nourish or fully love others.

February is a perfect month to set aside a few minutes each day for your own self-care and to fill your own cup.

4 Self-Care Ideas–To nourish your body and your spirit?

Time alone. For some of us (even extroverts like me), it’s morning meditation, journal writing, or getting out in nature.

Connect with others face to face.   Sit and enjoy lunch or coffee with a good friend–in person with your phone put away! Say hi and chat with people throughout the day. Even a brief connection with strangers makes us feel part of a bigger world and feel good about it.

Read uplifting books and authors. The news is filled mostly with what’s wrong with the world..it sells, but it doesn’t feed our soul. I was a news and political junkie and it was emotionally exhausting,. Besides we are feeding the beast of fear and our differences. Learn about and follow people who positively impact the world. Read blogs, listen to podcasts and hear about the wondrous things happening in the world–science, cultural, the arts. There is so much good happening.

Do less of what depletes you. If there are people or situations (and apps) which drain you, either eliminate them or reduce the amount of time you spend on them. These drain your soul of the happy and healthy in your life slowly. I’ve reduced my phone/computer time and that has freed me up to do other things and I feel much better.

Let me know whatyou fill’s your cup and nurtures your spirit.
